Spring 2021 Bridal Trends

Another one bites the dust!

Bridal Fashion Week for Spring 2021 turned out to be completely different than what was expected, thanks to the ongoing pandemic. Since an actual runway show was no longer in the cards for many designers, they still decided to host a virtual bridal fashion week offering a digital presentation of their latest collections. Some lookbooks even had to be shot at home by the models themselves, which surprisingly offered images resemblant of an actual wedding day, intimate and candid. These lookbooks reflected the style turn that wedding trends have taken this season, bringing back the beauty in simplicity and classic wedding gowns. But, don’t worry there can’t be a fashion week without a few standout styles. If you’re in the market for some wedding gown inspo for your upcoming nuptials, check out our top six trends from Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2021.

Surprise Skirt

Surprise skirts are the newest bridal trend that can get you the best of both worlds when it comes to wedding gowns. This whimsical style has a structured or fitted bodice with a full skirt made of layers of tulle or chiffon. Whether you opt for a drop waist or A-line structure, this trend is perfect if you desire a dreamy ball gown effect but with a more fitted silhouette.

Bows

It doesn’t look like bows are making their exit from the fashion world anytime soon. We’ve seen them move from hair accessories to shoe accents, and this season they’re a stylish addition to any wedding gown. Whether you opt for small bows covering up the buttons of your dress or a statement bow for a one-shoulder strap, this simple accent can add a chic elegance to your wedding gown.

Deep Plunge

You’re taking the plunge - in more ways than one! It might seem like a risky move to choose a wedding gown that has a deep plunge in its neckline, but with the right amount of sheer underlay (and dress tape), it can be beautifully done. This sultry style will help define your neckline and add a unique aspect to your gown without the need for heavy embellishment.

Sheer Details

It’s the simple things! Sheer details, no matter how small, can provide some extra oomph to your gown. Even though it’s technically less fabric, it does bare more skin (see: Reem Acra side panel below). Unexpected sheer details are an effortlessly cool addition that provides a surprise element to your gown guests might not even notice until you turn.

Unstructured

When you think of a shapeless gown, it doesn’t sound as appealing or romantic as you would hope your wedding gown would be. But, when it comes to this season’s unstructured trend, the gowns are less blob-like, and rather they drape beautifully on a bride’s silhouette. This trend can be even more fashion-forward if you opt for a one-shoulder style or cutouts.

Classic

It’s time to take it back to the basics! This is a trend that really took off after Meghan Markle walked down the aisle in an understated Givenchy gown in 2018. Simplicity can often be mistaken for boring, but that’s not the case. This style allows you to play around with accessories and put the focus on the silhouette of the gown rather than its embellishments.
