5 Tasks That Should Be On Your Post-Wedding Checklist

Your wedding has come and gone, now what?

Once all the dust has settled, there should still be a few tasks left on your to-do list. After the wedding, all you want to do is kick your feet up and have some relaxation time. We don’t blame you, but your wedding duties don’t immediately end after you say “I Do.” You may have to wrap up any last-minute payments with vendors and thank your guests for coming to your wedding. Many couples forget about all the loose ends they need to tie up post-wedding or procrastinate to the point that all their necessary tasks have to be rushed through. Save yourself the headache and take care of all your post-wedding tasks asap! If you’re trying to figure out what needs to get done, here are some of the items that should be on your post-wedding to-do list.

Social Media Review

After all that brainstorming you did for your wedding hashtag, make sure to put it to good use! After your wedding, take some time to do a deep dive on social media to go through all of the content your guests tagged. Chances are, you will find some photo gems in there that can be used in your wedding album or added to your own social media profiles. If you find any photos or videos you like, message your guests and have them send you a copy of the content. You want to try and do this within 24 hours of your wedding to catch any content that may expire within that time frame.

Thank You’s

One of the most important tasks to take care of after your wedding is thanking your guests! This might seem like an obvious one, but you’d be surprised how many people put it off for months following their wedding. Ideally, you want to have sent out all of your thank you notes within 90 days of your wedding, the sooner the better. Use any traveling time on your honeymoon to write them out or set aside time on the weekend to knock them out. Your guests will appreciate this nice gesture and you’ll have one of your biggest to-do’s crossed off your list!

Leave Vendor Reviews

You’ll want to thank all of your wedding vendors along with your guests. Thank you notes are always appreciated, but the best way to thank your vendors is to leave them a good review. Reviews are the most common way that businesses can acquire new clients and leaving them a glowing review will help their credibility. Take a few minutes to type up a review detailing your experience that you can personally send to your vendors, post online, or both! Not only will they appreciate your feedback, but other couples will love the chance to gain insight into a potential vendor as well.

Name Change

If you’re planning to change your last name or hyphenate it post-wedding, there are so many things to keep in mind. First off, there’s no wrong way to do it, it's completely up to you and your preference. But, if you decide to change your last name, make sure to have your marriage license handy, you’ll need it to officially change your name. Then, get to work on changing your name on your social security card, driver’s license, bank accounts, employee payroll, etc. Here at LVB, we’re all about getting things done the smart way, which is why we recommend using Hitch Switch for a seamless transition. Finish Your Registry

Swap out that second coffee maker for a complete dinner set! Chances are you will receive duplicate items from your wedding registry or possibly an item you don’t feel matches your home decor vision. If that’s the case, make sure to take care of any returns fairly quickly and check store policy to have a better idea of your timeline. In most cases, you’ll want to make returns within 30 days of your wedding, some stores may offer a discount on any items that remain on your registry during that time frame. Don’t forget to close out your registry once you have made all the returns and purchases that you want!
