5 Wedding Dress Trends From Fall 2023 Bridal Fashion Week to Know

It’s that time again – and yes, we’re talking about Bridal Fashion Week!

The collections for fall 2023 hit the runway this month, and we’re seeing even more dramatic silhouettes and glamorous detailing. A continuation of the over-the-top bridal trends we saw in last year’s fall collections, these new trends are incorporating even more fringe, beading, and plunging necklines for eye-catching bridal looks. Whether you’re looking to make a fashion statement with your wedding dress or are keeping it simple, there’s something for every kind of bride in the Fall 2023 collections. Keep scrolling for five bridal trends you should look out for in 2023!

Statement Sleeves

We’ve seen statement sleeves on the bridal runway for years, but this season sleeves are becoming more voluminous and embellished. All types of sleeves, including puff, bishop, and long sleeves are trending for 2023 brides. Theia opted for tulle sleeves with pearl embellishments, while Anne Barge kept it classic with an embroidered bishop sleeve. Either option, simple or embellished, statement sleeves are a great way to elevate a fall bridal look for a romantic result. Choose a pair of detachable sleeves if you want to switch up your look between wedding events.

Plunging Necklines

Bridal trends are taking the plunge – literally! Plunging necklines popped up numerous times in the Fall 2023 collections. This timeless neckline silhouette, while sultry, can also be elegant and sophisticated when paired with a classic A-line or ballgown wedding dress. Amsale perfectly offset a plunging neckline with a high-waisted silhouette, which gave the look a timeless quality. If you’re looking for more coverage, consider an illusion neckline that can still give you the plunging silhouette without having to bear as much skin.

Overskirts

Two-in-one looks are extremely popular this season, and it’s not hard to understand why! A wedding dress with an overskirt adds just the right amount of drama. Whether it’s bringing some volume to a fitted silhouette or adding even more layers to a tulle ballgown, an overskirt will give you a second bridal look at no additional cost. You can rock it down the aisle and remove it to reveal a stunning reception look or vice versa. Houghton opted for a feather overskirt for a fully embellished look, but you can also choose a tulle or organza overskirt that will complement a simpler bridal style.

Party Dresses

Mini dresses are still reigning supreme this season, but now designers are taking the party dress to the next level. We’re seeing lots of sequins, beaded embellishments, fringe, and feather detailing, which are feminine details that can make a wedding dress feel timeless and modern. Monique Lhuillier kept it fun and fresh, using three-dimensional embroidery to create a collection of whimsical wedding dresses. These trendy wedding dress details, while often playful, aren’t just made for the reception. They’re perfect for a more glamorous bridal style if you really want to turn heads as you walk down the aisle. You can also opt for more subtle embroidery or only bodice embellishments if you’re aiming for a more classic bridal style.

Fitted Silhouettes

The ballgown never goes out of style, but more fitted silhouettes are having their moment this season. Nadia Manjarrez included both drop waists and mermaid silhouettes in her fall 2023 collection, which create a flattering fit for all body shapes. If you’re looking for a vintage style, drop waists are the perfect mix of classic and modern for a silhouette that is fitted, but also has a dramatic flair. A mermaid silhouette is a timeless choice that is sultry but can be dressed up or down with the addition of embellishments. This is a great way to incorporate a trend into your bridal look without being too on the nose, which makes for a wedding dress you can wear today or three years from now.
