6 Essentials to Have in Your Wedding Day Emergency Kit

After spending months planning your dream wedding, of course you want to make sure it all goes off without a hitch. But, a few minor mishaps will inevitably happen throughout the day, whether it’s a small tear in your wedding gown or an unforeseen blister. That’s why it’s so important to go into your wedding day fully prepared with any essentials you may need. A week before your wedding, start making a list and gathering products you want to include in a wedding day emergency kit, from lip balm to safety pins. If you forget to bring a lint roller or a pack of gum, it’s not the end of the world. A quick run to Target or the nearest drugstore can solve your last-minute issues, but it makes it so much easier to have a kit ready to go that can fix almost any wedding disaster. If you want to avoid the midnight or early morning run to the drugstore, we’ve listed six essentials you should have in your wedding day emergency kit!

Sewing Kit

This might be the most important item on the list because even if you don’t know how to sew, this kit should have basic items to fix any wedding attire wear and tear. Make sure to include safety pins, sewing needles, a pair of scissors, double-sided tape, and different color threads that match you and your bridesmaids’ gowns. If you encounter any tears or ill-fitting gowns you can use anything in this kit for a quick fix that will last throughout the day.

Steamer

If your gown has been sitting in a garment bag for a few weeks or months it’s most likely there will be some wrinkles to handle. A steamer is easy to transport and it’s much safer than an iron, which can easily singe your dress. Giving your gown a quick steam before putting it on, even if you don’t see any wrinkles, is always a good idea. The same goes for your wedding veil, which can often get wrinkled during transportation.

First Aid Kit

Hopefully, you won’t need to use this, but in the case of any medical emergencies have a first aid kit handy that is equipped with bandages, Ibuprofen, and antiseptic wipes. Shoes, especially heels, can often cause blisters and headaches also have a way of showing up at the most inconvenient moments. So, it’s helpful to have a first aid kit ready for any person in the bridal party who is feeling under the weather or takes a tumble during the day.

Cosmetic Bag

If you’re planning on doing your wedding makeup yourself you should already have this ready to go, but even if you hired a makeup artist you should still bring a backup cosmetic bag. In addition to the obvious necessities of mascara, lipstick, and eyeliner that you’ll need for beauty touch-ups throughout the day, also pack some deodorant, perfume, lip balm, and floss for any of those hot weather or ‘there’s food stuck in my teeth’ emergencies.

Extra Earrings/Earring Backs

This might seem like an unnecessary item to include in your emergency kit, but your ears will be thanking you later! Small earring backs are so easily lost and the last thing you want to do on your wedding day is to be crawling on the floor looking for one or constantly adjusting falling earrings. Having an extra pair of earrings on hand is also a good idea, especially if you’re planning to wear heavier, statement earrings. This way you can change into more comfortable studs or lighter earrings later in the day if your ears need a rest.

Chargers

Your wedding will have you on the move all day, so make sure to pack a few chargers in case your phone dies. Pack a regular charger for when you’re getting ready, but also have a few portable chargers handy for if your phone loses battery while you’re at the reception or on the move between venues. You’ll need to be able to get in touch with your wedding planner, coordinator, or a family member throughout the day and a portable charger will be your lifesaver.
