Bridal Hair and Makeup Trends to Know For 2021

Getting lost in the YouTube rabbit hole of MUA videos — we’ve all been there.

The easiest way to get bridal inspiration is to watch tutorials, especially if you plan on doing your hair and makeup yourself. But, if you don’t know where to start, we have a few ideas of which trends will be popular for brides in 2021. With the pandemic still very much a reality, most of the brides this year will be facing a smaller or long-awaited wedding. Which has caused the hair and makeup trends to take a turn from classic neutral to more bold options. But, even with more eye-catching bridal hair and makeup looks, there is an effortless quality to them. Giving brides one area to focus on rather than going for a full face of makeup or a slicked-back bun with no fly-away to be seen. If you need some inspiration, here are six of the hair and makeup trends you will be seeing a lot more of in 2021!

Hollywood Glam

We’re taking it back to some good old-fashioned Hollywood glam. You know the look — a sleek side part with perfectly cascading waves. It doesn’t get more romantic than that! This classic hairstyle is guaranteed to wow your guests and still leaves room to add some modern touches. You can go for a more tried and true look by adding a light, face-framing veil or opt for an updated bridal look by adding small jewels or flowers throughout your waves.

Textured Tresses

Sleek and tight hairstyles will always be a chic bridal style, but they’re taking a backseat to more lived-in textures this year. Simplicity is key for this loose, almost straight waves hairstyle that offers a more natural look. Even updos will get a relaxed makeover, with face-framing pieces being left out for a romantic touch to a textured do. This is a stunning hairstyle that will work for any length of hair and easily complement a range of bridal hair accessories from headbands to a classic veil.

Reception Ponytail

Make way for the party pony! If you’re looking for a way to refresh your reception bridal look without changing your gown this is the perfect trend for you. You can go for a high pony, low pony, slicked back, or a messy texture. This is a casual hairstyle that is still chic and takes the hair out of your face for a more effortless look. You can add in accessories like a velvet ribbon or bow to create a more modern look.

Emphasis On Skincare

Skincare took on a new popularity over the last year with a lot of people completely re-shaping their everyday skincare routine. Investing in good skincare products has created a smaller need for full coverage products and instead emphasized more natural looks. Every bridal makeup look starts with good skin, putting more concentration on eyes, lips, and brows. Lightweight foundation formulas that offer a more dewy, radiant finish will set the tone for healthy skin and a beautiful bridal look.

Bold Lips

With masks being a must-have item over the last year, rocking a bold lip has become less common. Causing many brides to want to wear a bold lip for their big day, giving them a way to feel glamorous even in the event they have to wear a clear mask. Pair a bold lip with a more toned-down eye for an easy-to-wear, romantic bridal look. This is a striking bridal look, but isn’t too over the top and will perfectly compliment any wedding gown.

Playful Eyes

Ever since Euphoria hit our TVs in 2019, colorful and bedazzled makeup has been a staple in the makeup world. 2021 is no different with colorful eyes and jeweled eyeliner popping up as a bridal trend. This is another trend that was made popular by the need to wear masks, with many people using their eye makeup as a way to dress up their looks and show their personality. Replace your eyeliner with tiny jewels or go for a monochromatic eye that will add some drama to your bridal look. This is the perfect trend to try if you tend to be on the more creative side and want non-traditional bridal glam instead of the minimalist makeup look of 2020.
