Money Monday: 3 Simple Ways to Save on Wedding Favors

How many small keychains or decks of cards have you taken home from weddings? If your answer is “a lot” then we’re right there with you. Most wedding favors are hidden away in a junk drawer or thrown out from lack of use. With favors costing an average of $400 in 2019, that’s a significant portion of your budget that can potentially go to waste. It’s always a nice gesture to give your guests a token of appreciation to remember your wedding, but it doesn’t hurt to make your wedding favors a little more practical. In this week’s Money Monday we’re giving your three simple ways you can still have wedding favors that reduce your budget and waste!

Make It Edible

Who doesn’t love a little dessert for the road? Instead of giving your guests personalized trinkets, opt for edible wedding favors. This could be anything from a customized bag filled with candy or a donut glazed with your color scheme. Either way, an edible favor will ensure that your guests enjoy your favors and minimize waste. You can bake the treats yourself if you’re able or buy them in bulk for a lower cost!

Utilize Your Decor

The easiest way to save money on your favors? Repurpose some of your decor as wedding favors! Most of your decor like flower centerpieces and table accents will be useless after your big day. At the end of the night take your wedding centerpieces, florals, and greenery from your reception and send them home with your guests. This will help you save the planet and money, getting rid of your wedding favor budget entirely!

Do It Yourself

Purchasing individual favors for each of your guests can raise your allotted budget. Cut some of the expenses by making the favors yourself! Whether it’s bookmarks or cookies, DIY favors are a good way to add a personal touch to your favors while still staying within budget. Plus, chances are you will already have some of the supplies at home which can save you even more money in the process.
