Watch a wedding-based movie that makes you laugh, maybe cry, or even both to make you feel like you’re not alone in a whirlwind of wedding plans. The Wedding Planner (2001)

If getting to watch Matthew McConaughey on screen for an hour and 43 minutes isn’t convincing enough, The Wedding Planner is a classic J-Lo film that’s the epitome of a romantic comedy filled with forbidden love, loss, and an adorably Italian, pre- Grey’s Anatomy Justin Chambers.

27 Dresses (2008)

Always the bridesmaid, but never the bride, at least that’s the mantra of serial bridesmaid Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses. This is a feel-good movie that follows Heigl as she falls for the cynical reporter covering her sister’s wedding, and as a former single girl, you’ll appreciate the comedy of this film.

Bride Wars (2009)

Let’s hope you’re not experiencing a friendship rivalry like Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson in this film, but watching Bride Wars will give you a deeper appreciation for your bridesmaids and the support they’ve shown you.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

Not only is this film one of the highest-grossing romantic comedies, but if you have a big family, you know it can be challenging to navigate through their wedding expectations as well as your own. This film will highlight how to navigate family turmoil, whether it’s your own family or your partners.

Bridesmaids (2011)

If you’re just looking for a good laugh, there’s really no other option than to watch Bridesmaids. This film is filled with comedic geniuses from Kristin Wiig to Melissa McCarthy and is a great pick to watch with your bridesmaids for a little bridal party bonding!

Love Actually (2003)

Now we know this might be everyone’s go-to holiday movie, but we had to include it in this list because even though there’s only one scene with a wedding, there are so many beautiful love stories to follow throughout the film. Plus, it’s just a feel-good film to put you in a sentimental mood.

The Wedding Date (2004)

A flashback to the days of plus ones and family weddings! You might not be desperate to find a date to your sister’s wedding and end up hiring a male escort, who you inevitably fall for, like Debra Messing in this film. But, it’s a romantic comedy that never gets old and makes you grateful that you’re now the bride, not the attendee.

Sex and the City (2008)

Big or Aiden? If you’re a fan of the TV series, you know what we’re talking about and that this is almost impossible to answer. But, if you need a reminder to keep your wedding in perspective, this is the perfect film to watch.

Mamma Mia (2008)

Dancing Queen! If you’re a musical lover and one half of an unbreakable mother, daughter bond, then you’ll love this film starring Amanda Seyfried and the iconic Meryl Streep. It has the perfect combination of romance and comedy, with an overload of mid-conversation song breaks.

Father of the Bride (1991)

Fathers can have a hard time letting go of their little girl, and that’s exactly the case for Steve Martin in Father of the Bride. If you’re getting sentimental about officially leaving behind your adolescence for married life, watch this classic film (and the original 1950 version if you’re feeling ambitious) for a boost of nostalgia.

Our Family Wedding (2010)

The blending of two very different families can be a tricky business. America Ferrera leads this lighthearted film that is funny but topples the challenge of merging families and how to navigate your relationship with your potentially overbearing in-laws.

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

This film was groundbreaking for so many reasons, but along with a diverse breakthrough for romantic comedies, it includes an over-the-top wedding that you might not be able to have or necessarily want but is so fun to fawn over. Between the drama and hilarious comedic appearances from Awkwafina, it’s a present-day must-watch.
