5 Trends From NYFW Spring/Summer 2022 to Inspire Your Wedding Dress

For all our fashion queens – it’s that time again!

Of course, we’re talking about New York Fashion Week. The first in-person fashion week in over a year, the runway did not disappoint with some fashion trends that are meant to turn heads. Most of the looks are made for the runway and not the wedding aisle, but we think quite a few trends would make for stunning details on a wedding dress. From intricate sleeves to illusion bodices, some of the trends of the spring and summer 2022 collections are meant for a cool-girl bride. These are five of the trends from NYFW Spring/Summer 2022 that we love and can be used as inspiration for your wedding dress details!

Bubble Hems

Bubble hems of early 2000s fame are here to stay! We’ve seen them pop up on fashion and bridal runways over the last few years and it seems they are still as trendy now as they were then. Christian Siriano put a modern twist on the classic bubble hem by creating an asymmetrical bubble skirt. This subtle change to the bubble hem trend gives a wedding dress a mermaid fit, accentuating the waist for a more fitted bridal look.

Flutter Sleeves

Perfect for your wedding dress or even honeymoon attire, the flutter sleeves trend is an effortlessly beautiful dress detail. These flowing sleeves will bring feminine elegance to your wedding dress that is exemplary of a romantic bride. Adam Lippes went with satin flutter sleeves on the runway, but this trend is versatile. You can add flutter sleeves to a wedding dress of almost any fabric from tulle to lace.

Corset Top

The medieval Renaissance trend of your dreams – the corset top! A growing trend in the fashion world this year, a corset top is perfect for a bridal separates ensemble or wedding dress. The fitted bodice of this trend is size-inclusive, trendy, and offers a multitude of ways that it can be styled. LaQuan Smith went for a simple, midi corset dress for the spring/summer 2022 runway that would be stunning for a rehearsal dinner or reception wedding dress.

Sheer Prints

Nothing makes for a standout fashion moment like a sheer print! This trend is nothing new for the bridal world, illusion bodices have been a staple in bridal fashion for years. But, there’s always a way to put a new twist on an age-old trend. Naeem Khan debuted an intricately embellished, sheer dress on the runway this year and it's bold, but made for a bride who doesn’t want a plain illusion detail.

Off-the-Shoulder Sleeves

We always love an intricate, big sleeve moment and the spring/summer 2022 fashion runway gave us tons! Carolina Herrera had models in everything from a sleek off-the-shoulder sleeve to an oversized, bubble sleeve and they all looked stunning. We favor an off-the-shoulder sleeve for an open-neckline wedding dress that suits a simple, classic bridal style or a romantic, boho bridal style.
